Today the local Guatemalan Adoption Group held a picnic that we attended as a family. There was a turnout of approximately 15 families. It was our first meeting with this particular group. It was a bit of a rainy day. However, it did not stop people from coming out and having a good time. We met several nice families and enjoyed the time we spent. We exchanged information with a few people, and hopefully we will see them in the near future. All around it was well worth going, as we feel strongly that James will benefit in his future from meeting children from Guatemala that he can grow up with.
Thanks to all who attended the event today! It was truly a pleasure meeting everyone.

The night James scared Mommy and Daddy
It was midnight last eve and James awoke crying. He has done this from time to time, so we tend to allow him a few moments to gather his thoughts and go back to sleep. In this case, he was not going back to sleep. Mommy went to get him to see what was the issue and when she opened the door, he was unresponsive and having a febrile seizure. This was a scary event where he reached a temperature (above 104 deg f) that he had an event. This was like a blackout as it did not involve convulsions. Mommy, in a panic, woke Daddy and called 911. While the ambulance was on its way, Daddy cooled James off in our bedroom with the air conditioner and a fan. As his temperature came down, he started to get a bit more responsive and eventually (15 minutes or so) was awake and seemed aware - he even smiled at Mommy.
Now it was off to the hospital for examination to make sure he was ok. Turns out that he may have a staph virus and is being treated. He may also have a cold as well. It seems that we will be nursing him back towards a happy healthy little man for the next few days.
Big shout out to the Ontario Volunteer Ambulance and Rochester General Hospital for all of their hard work!!!!! Thanks also to Grandma and Grandpa who have been a constant source of help for the past few weeks.
